The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team is taking hit after hit. At the GP of Great Britain, in Matterley Basin, the team was plagued by bad luck. Maxime Renaux struggled too much with his hip injury and was forced to withdraw from the Grand Prix after time practice. As if that weren’t enough, Jago Geerts broke his big toe during the first moto. Calvin Vlaanderen was the only bright spot, finishing sixth overall.

After a strong performance in Latvia, Geerts arrived in Matterley Basin full of confidence. The Belgian has fond memories of the British track: in 2020, Jago claimed his first GP win there, and in 2023, he took his 24th – and, so far, his last – GP victory. This weekend, however, didn’t go to plan. On Saturday, a technical issue forced him to retire after just a few laps. On Sunday, his first moto ended after six laps when he crashed and injured his left foot. The diagnosis: a fracture in the big toe and stretched ligaments, which forced him to sit out the second moto.
