The first Grand Prix of 2024 – in Villa la Angostura, Argentina – was one with mixed feelings for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team. Maxime Renaux settled between the best riders in a fifth position, while Calvin Vlaanderen finished ninth. Bad luck for Jago Geerts. The Belgian suffered a broken elbow and will be ruled out for a while.
#93 JAGO GEERTS
DID NOT START
Qualifying race: After barely 200 metres disaster struck for Geerts, when a rider crashed just in front of him. Jago could not avoid a big crash. The Belgian got back on the bike but in the second lap he hit a sharp bump and was catapulted over his bike. Groaning in pain he was transferred to the hospital. There a lot of damage was found: left elbow and collarbone broken. Geerts will fly back to Belgium as soon as possible where he will determine with his doctors what next steps have to be done.
