Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha rider Jago Geerts – who clinched the bronze medal in the FIM World Championship MX2 – has one goal left this season: another medal with team Belgium in the Motocross of Nations, which will take place in Assen, Netherlands this weekend.
The famous TT-circuit of Assen, know as The Cathedral of Speed, is turns into a motocross track this weekend. More than 25,000m³ of sand – Geerts favourite soil – was brought in to run the biggest motocross race of the season.
The Belgian riders – Jeremy Van Horebeek (MXGP), Jago Geerts (MX2) and Kevin Strijbos (Open) – get an opportunity to make amends for the painful sixth place last year at Red Bud.
No Watson
Normally, both Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha riders would race this Motocross of Nations. Ben Watson was selected to represent team Great-Britain. Unfortunately, Watson is still out with a wrist injury.

Team Belgium
“I made my debut in the Motocross of Nations last year in Red Bud. We finished sixth, which was a big disappointment. We must perform better this year. The sand track of Assen suits all three of us. So, we must aim for the podium. I’m really looking forward to this race. Although, it will be very difficult for me on the 250 to compete against the more powerful 450 bikes. Anyway, it’s always an honour to ride for your country. I will give everything I have to get on the box.”
